Show #1496 ~ Sunday Funday at Sunset Bar & Grill ~ 7-28-24

Ah yes, that R word loomed over us all day. RAIN. Numerous texts and calls between the bar and band occurred the morning of our show. It was decided to roll the dice and take the chance that the weather would cooperate long enough for us to put on an afternoon show at the Sunset Bar & Grill in Fort Atkinson.  What a cool place! It is situated on the northern shores of Lake Koshkonong in the middle of a small lake side neighborhood. Where these cars even park is beyond us.

Well, everyone found a place to park and the people started rolling in. We got setup JUST in time for a smaller rain shower that rolled in. We had two canopies set up and plenty of tarps to keep all of our gear and our production company's gear sufficiently covered. Once the rain passed, the sun came out and made it a true summer day. Hot and sweaty!

The show began with a couple of hundred fun, music loving peeps in attendance. We made it two hours before the sky to the south of the lake started looking pretty dark and wicked. Some preps had been made to protect us from the storm but the weather radar told us that prep work wasn't gonna be enough.  Marty and Amanda scrambled to start battening down the hatches. It didn't matter lol…. the show was stopped and within minutes we got SLAMMED with a very windy and strong rain storm that sent everyone in attendance to seek cover. The wind was so strong that the tarps we stapled up on the side of the stage were ripping off. Amanda and band friend Amy, TRIED to hold the side tarps up no no avail. A bunch of other band friends (Cox, Kennedy, Gerhartz, Majeres families) TRIED to help keep things dry only to find themselves experiencing their second shower of the day. We were all SOAKED.

All in all, the important stuff was saved and kept mostly dry. Those tarps and canopies did their best to keep things mostly dry. Load out was def soggy and sand filled, but expedient. A band could get used to having that many hands to help! THANK YOU GUYS AND GALS!

And thank you to the bar and peeps that came out to the show despite the threat of bad weather. It was fun while it lasted! Until next time, keep rockin'!
