Rain and sticky weather got us AGAIN! The area is already recovering from last week's historic flooding. Everyone knows someone that was affected by that and here we are again…. rain. First of all, don't get us wrong. We thank the good Lord for the rain.
SIDE STORY - Frank and his lady (our photographer and cat herder extraordinaire), are AVID gardeners. They have a property that could be compared to a botanical garden. Roses of the climbing, hybrid, and bush kind. Amanda has planted over 80 bushes and 14 trees in the last year alone. That doesn't include the 50'x60' raised bed vegetable and cutting flower garden she is about to build (with a 16'x16' greenhouse), nor does that include to two 25' by 25' formal gardens either. She even has 6 own-root fruit trees on order that will come from California in the fall so that she can start our homestead orchard! There are also TONS of herbs and pollinator flowers. Have any of you ever seen Cosmos over 3-4 feet high? Amanda got theirs to grow over 7 feet high! Have you ever seen rosemary or basil in their full bush form?! She has copious amounts of herbs to dry. This woman has two green thumbs. Want to know the secret?! You will have to ask her when you see her at a Cherry Pie show. Plus she has to keep the bees happy. There are several hives in the area that benefit from the yard! So needless to say, rain has been helpful for Trashes gardens this year.
On to the show… it was super fun as always. We had hoped for better circumstances weather wise, but hey, we hope you all had fun anyway. Load in and load out were WET! Thank you to those of you that helped. OH, and congrats to the drum set winner! Your dreams of becoming a rockstar are that much closer.
