This is a new gig for us! Janesville was filled with anticipation after the city learned we would be playing a show at the Rock County 4-H Fair. Typically this is a fair about kids showing off their prize animals, baked goods, crafts, quilting and more! This year was a little different with the added upgraded entertainment as well as the first year of the fair not being dry. Very controversial since this fair is all about the kids. But at the same time,the alcohol drinking was contained to a beer garden area that kept the drinking within said garden. It didn't really seem to be an issue as far as we could tell.
On to the show… Arrival time, 5PM. As we got closer to where we were playing, we could see that the grandstand stage really was GRAND! Largest stage we have played all summer and it may even be ONE of the largest stages we have ever played next to the few Summerfest shows we have done in years past. This had us stoked!
Load in was a breeze. Lots of room to use our full show. So much room that we ran out of extension cords to plug everything in! HA! We also had the pleasure of working with Jonny B Enterprises Inc out of Rockford, IL which provided production for the show. OUTSTANDING!
Now this being a Wednesday, we will say the crowd was pretty light. Have a big show and a small crowd, or have a smaller show and a big crowd? .… not sure which is better (or worse) for that matter. We will say that those in attendance had a great time. We could tell that much! Those that missed out, we wish you could've seen our show on a big stage. It was GRAND indeed! We will be back next year, and we do hope that more of you come out for a mid-week show. Until then, keep on rockin'!
