Who knew there were TWO Summerfests in Wisconsin?! Night and day from one another. We used to play Milwaukee's Summerfest. Now we play Oregon Summer Fest which is located in Oregon, just south of Madison. Bonus… the load in here is light years easier!
The setting: Kiser Fireman's Park. A lovely little slice of green with a nice ball field; nestled near the post office, police department, fire department and community pool. Probably a pretty safe place to be at least!
As the day went on, we learned that we would be treated to fireworks this night as well due to the impending (and VIOLENT) storms that ripped thru the area the next day. So that is always a treat during our shows.
We did drive thru another monsoon on the way to the gig that had us goin barely 35 mph on the freeway. When the National Weather Service issued the flood watch for the day, they weren't kidding. Yikes! Load-in was uneventful and swift as we watched the weather radar for any additional storms that may be approaching. And there were some… they arrived about an hour before our show was done, and pour it did! We can't remember such a rainy festival season. Pretty sure this year is a record for rained on shows!
We were all treated to our second shower of the day at load out. Wet, Wet, WET! We made the best of it and reflected on the fun we had with you all at the show. Thanks to the Oregon Chamber and numerous sponsors for having us back yet again. We always enjoy putting on the show for your fine community.
