The theme this year for June Dairy Days in Markesan was “Party 'Til the Cows Come Home”. Ha! Are we playing somewhere THAT rural?! The answer is YES! What a charming community and area. Rolling hills and endless farms. Quintessential Wisconsin really and it warms the heart. And yes, we saw cows so a party it was.
This event is put on by the Markesan Fire Department each year and what an event it is! The day started out with a huge breakfast in the “Blue Building” followed by a day of activities in Kiwanis Park. It didn't happen without RAIN though. That gosh darn rain. It's def been an exceptionally wet spring and not wet in a good way if you know what we mean. :P Thank goodness for a tent and thank goodness it stopped by the time we rolled in. It was a mushy load in but all in all, it went well and no one got stuck in the mud this time around.
During our sound check, Amanda (our lovely photographer and Queen of all things Cherry Pie related), walked down to Bridge St. for the evening parade. She relayed that it was a great parade and a long parade at that! Fun to see all the cow themed floats. And yes, they do their parade at 7pm in these parts. What a cool idea! It got people down to where the meat and potatoes of the festival is and then they all stay for food, rides and music. Brilliant idea!
Show was fun! No issues other than the guy peeing ON FRANK'S TRUCK at the end of the night. Gross. Be a civilized human and at least pee in the bushes or trees lol. Better yet, go find an actual bathroom. There is a concept. Gotta love the drunk goofs at the end of the night. Keeps things interesting for sure.
