A Word from Josh:
A lot has been said about 2016 being a horrible year that people are eager to say goodbye to. This is largely because of a perceived uptick in beloved celebrity deaths and increasingly ugly politics. In addition, it seems that I've seen an increase of personal bad news shared by Facebook friends. My own 2016 had some unprecedented lows; namely the death of my youngest brother and my wife's heart surgery. Of course the sad reality is that most of us are getting to an age where these kinds of things are naturally going to happen more often and the trend will not stop with a new year. Still, it's obvious to me that I have a great many things to be happy and grateful for. For starters, we as a society have survived another year; something I stopped taking for granted long ago. I am also still a member of Cherry Pie so I really can't complain too much. Playing tonight's show at the Red Zone was the best way I can think of to spend New Year's Eve. We were definitely among friends and enjoyed sharing some of the coolest music of all time with them. We are thankful to the Red Zone for providing such a quality live music venue to downtown Madison. We have yet to fully recapture the magic that we enjoyed for so many years at the Badger Bowl but it was a good time. And apparently, despite its flaws, our performance was better than Mariah Carey's. Happy New Year everybody! --Josh
