A Word from Josh:
We played here at Brock's River Walk once before back in April on an unseasonably warm day which allowed us to perform on an outdoor stage to a large crowd that filled their outdoor patio and spilled out onto the street. That worked out pretty well. Tonight was seasonably chilly so the gig took place inside the bar where there is no stage. We, along with all our sound and light gear, were tucked in the front corner by the main entrance. Space was tight and our show was compromised quite a bit. But this didn't stop us from drawing another large crowd which seemed to fill every cranny of the bar. People were balls to butts to balls to butts everywhere you looked. Of course we love playing to a packed house, but what is frustrating about a situation like this is knowing that, lacking any kind of elevated stage, a vast majority of the people in attendance can't see us. I mean, I'm not claiming that we're God's gifts to the eyes, but I don't think we're unpleasant to look at either. Speaking of people who are fun to look at, we noticed many women in the crowd dressed as witches. Of course, Halloween was a couple of weeks ago and also a Holiday-themed parade took place just outside of the bar before the show. But we later found out that the witches had come from a witch-themed charity event at a nearby country club. Regardless, we were glad to see them but we had to be extra careful to protect our supply of eye of newt.

I need to give a big shout out to Brian Blankenheim who provided the light show tonight on short notice following a sudden acute illness that befell our regular lighting guy Johanne. We expect Johanne to make a full and swift recovery and we look forward to having him back very soon. Thank you Brian for filling in like a champ.

Last week I told you that my wife Tammy was to undergo major heart surgery this week. I'm glad to report that the surgery took place on Thursday and went very well. She will remain hospitalized for a few more days and it will be a while before she is back to normal, but the worst is over and we are very relieved. Our Facebook posts on the subject received hundreds of supportive comments and reactions which totally blow us away. We are very touched by all the prayers and well-wishes and I can assure you that she continues to feel the love from the Cherry Pie community.     -Josh
