A Word from Josh:
This Fall we've been trying out some new venues to play. I saw tonight's show on the calendar and didn't know what to expect. When I first walked in the room I was impressed. It was bigger than I had expected and the stage was pretty nice. The decor was pretty classy while still retaining the exciting ambience of a sports bar on a Saturday during football season. We all set up our gear and waited for soundcheck. At one point I walked across the room to talk to some friends. I turned around, looked back at the stage and suddenly had one of the most bizarre moments of deja vu ever. In an instant the layout of the room struck me as familiar. We actually played here almost 15 years ago in a gig that had fallen almost completely down my memory hole. It's amazing to think that this band has been playing long enough that this kind of thing can happen. Indeed, much of the band's early days seem like from another lifetime to me. I'm so glad to have this website Journal to help reminisce. I wish I had this kind of archive for my entire career. Anyway, tonight's show was pretty good and a strong crowd got drunk and partied hearty with us. I hope it doesn't take another 15 years before we return here. During the show we saw on the TVs over the bar that the Chicago Cubs had won the National League pennant. The Cubs are Dave's favorite team and they'll be matched up in the World Series with my favorite team the Cleveland Indians. I assume the rest of the band doesn't care, but for me and Dave it is a very exciting time. Perhaps we should make a playful bet?     -Josh
