A Word from Josh:

Have you ever gone to see one of your longtime favorite bands and felt unfamiliar with them? Perhaps they've had personnel changes and/or updated their hairstyles and then devoted a large part of their show to their new material. Then comes that part of the show when they start to play their old hits and you are reassured that they really are the same old band that you love. I bring this up because of all the asterisks in tonight's set list which can only mean one thing... we recently had a rehearsal and are playing a lot of new songs tonight plus bringing back a few that we hadn't done in many years. Coincidentally, we had a similarly large batch of new material the last time we played here at the Metal Grill. I guess this venue could consider itself a testing ground for our adventures in repertoire. So, for me the show felt weird, partially because of the new songs along with the house monitors which sound a little different than what we're used to. It was good to get positive feedback from fans and friends who reassured me that we were still the same ol' Pie that they love. As always, we welcome your input regarding what songs work and which ones we may want to leave behind.     -Josh
