A Word from Josh:
We each arrived at Prentice thinking the same thing... "Wow, THAT was a long drive!" None of us had never been to this town before and we enjoyed discovering its rural mid-state charm. "Are we officially in the North Woods?" John asked during the show. Many in the crowd responded in the affirmative which prompted John to follow up with, "Where does the North Woods officially start?" I suggested that it might have been at that point during our travel where we lost cellphone signal. During the day, festival activities took place at the high school. These included kids rides, soft-ball, Karaoke and fair food. Our show took place at dusk inside the fire station (a la New Glarus) a block away. People were scarce shortly before showtime which made us nervous. That changed in a hurry as we filled the central Wisconsin air with 80s Rock and the local party people filled the fire station with hardcore music-mania. It's a bit of a different feeling to play a large crowd that contains virtually no familiar faces. It was gratifying winning over these new friends and they expressed appreciation for bringing some excitement to their little hamlet. By the end of the first set there was already talk of hiring us back again next year. For those in attendance who don't want to wait that long, they can catch us again in a couple of weeks when we return to the area to play as part of the Tomahawk Fall Ride.
