A Word from Josh:
We were introduced to the Waupaca County Fair last year on a day that was spoiled by torrential rains. This year the weather was more cooperative which led to a crowd several times bigger than at last year's show. The huge stage under a covered grandstand is one of the best infrastructural settings we get to play in all year. Our overall production (sound, lights, etc) really gets to shine here (pun sorta intended) which is nice because we really put a lot of work and resources into that stuff. The overall vibe of this festival is very rural, conservative and old-fashioned. It's the kind of place where rock concerts are nice, but demolition derbies are king. Most everybody we talked to were super nice. As we were setting up we kinda got a kick out of the PA announcements being made a few hundred yards away. A woman's voice with a rural Midwestern accent enthusiastically promoted various Fair events such as duck races, food presentations and magic shows. Then she would mention, "Cherry Pie on the Grandstand Stage at 8 o'clock, and let me tell you... they play great music!" We were glad to see our good friend Jody who reprised her former role of dancing with Amanda off to the side of the stage. We don't see her enough anymore. The show went well and pretty much lived up to epic scale of the setting. Hundreds of people rocked out with us, but there was still room for more in the grandstand, so perhaps next year we'll fill 'er up even more. We hope to be given the chance to do just that.     -Josh
