|A Word from Josh:|
Tonight was a very unique event for us. We were hired by Cindy and Chad Caitlin of Thundercat Fireworks to play this event for their friend Guy Berst who has advanced colon cancer. While the event did function as a benefit for Guy's medical expenses and the well-being of his 14-year-old son Cregan, it was primarily designed to be a "Celebration of Life" with many of Guy's closest friends enjoying a beautiful evening of food, drink, mother nature and, of course, Cherry Pie. The weather could not have been nicer which enabled us to set up our full show on the shore of the Wisconsin River behind the Hooker's Resort banquet facility. Our show got underway as darkness fell. Later, during our break, Thundercat put on a very impressive and very LOUD fireworks display. The excitement of the second set was punctuated during our performance of "Separate Ways" with a pretty sizeable fire that had broken out on a pier near where the fireworks had been launched from. Thundercat staff extinguished the blaze by the end of the song with no significant harm done. John certainly felt that it made for a funny story. Our show was originally scheduled to go until 12:30 am but the local authorities had other ideas and shut us down promptly at midnight leaving several songs on our set list unperformed. Some of our fans made the trip, mostly from the Madison area, but the event felt a bit more intimate than a typical Summer festival show. Guy certainly seemed to be feeling the love as well-wishers surrounded him all evening as they rocked out to some of his favorite music. We appreciate being invited to be a part of such a special event. --Josh

"Cherry Pie ROCKED THE RIVER on 5/20 at the 'Celebration of Life in honor of Guy Berst'. As a terminal cancer patient in some respects I live in what I call a 'CANCER BUBBLE'. This bubble has consumed now for nearly 29 months. I have a few close friends that know what to say or do to remind me, yeah I am a battle for my life, I am in a bubble, but God decided to grant me this new day, My close friends will puncture that bubble and treat me like I AM the same 'Guy'. GUY F'N BERST.
On 5/20, after just a few songs shot out into the first set, those amps, Dave, Kase, Frankie John and Josh, CHERRY PIE, shattered my 'cancer bubble' FOR THE NIGHT! These guys come on stage and are ready to ROCK.
Okay, to put an end to my 'word salad' here....I want to thank everyone that is part of the band including the drivers, dudes setting up the stage, security and sounds and lights. A special thank you to the guys on stage literally shattering my bubble for the night. THANK YOU CHERRY PIE for helping me feel ALIVE, air drums, air guitar and Rocking out with approximately 175 of my dear friends.
Fingers Croossed we can have you come come back and play sometime in 2017 - save me a Saturday night boys.
Aloha. Mahalo. Thank you. Much Love.
