A Word from Josh:
The big story tonight was that this was Dann's last show as bass player for Cherry Pie. Although he had only been in the band for two and a half years of the band's 15-year history, he had definitely reinvented a major part of the band's identity and will be missed very much by many people in the Pie World. It's too bad that tonight's show ended up being cut short. Like last year, we played in a large beer tent near the Main Stage. We played a short set before Winger played. Then, unlike last year, we were told NOT to play during the intermission between headlining acts. Queensryche followed and we finally returned to our stage more than three hours after having played our previous set. It was pretty late and we had to shorten the set to comply with the strict midnight curfew. A lot of people came by to see us play as they walked from the Main Stage, but our abbreviated set felt a little anti-climactic. Still, Dann was determined to go out with a bang. Earlier this week he had purchased a cheap bass for the specific purpose of playing it on tonight's last song and then smashing it on the stage. The problem was that, in his haste to leave his home on the way to the show, he forgot to bring that bass with him. However, being a man of strong conviction, he went through with the bass-smashing stunt anyway using one of his better instruments. What a Rock God!! A few lucky fans went home with souvenir scraps of the instrument. Bon Voyage Dann!!    -Josh
