A Word from Josh:
Cherry Pie playing at the Shack in Fond du Lac for a cancer charity sounds familiar, doesn't it? "Shakin' the Shack" in April has been such a success the last four years that the Fond du Lac chapter of St Baldrick's wanted to get in on the act. And when it comes to combating cancer we say the more the merrier. In fact the lovely Lisa Mick from "Shakin' the Shack" was on hand to lend her support. St Baldrick's is a national charity devoted to funding research to cure childhood cancers. As nice as that sounds they also have a fun gimmick: They derived their name from the fact that they stress the idea of volunteers shaving their heads in solidarity with young cancer patients who have lost their hair to treatment. These shavings are often done at public events that are used to raise money. Nobody got their head shaved tonight (phew) but many announcements were made regarding future head-shaving events. More info is available at their webpage. Tonight's event was considered a success by Robin Schroeder, the indomitable woman who made all this happen. This despite the treacherous weather outside. In fact, our friends Lottie and Colleen spun their car out on the snowy roads on the way to the show and side-swiped a guardrail. Ouch! Undeterred, they made it to the show determined not to miss out on their fix of 80s Rock. We want to acknowledge the impressive performance by The Delorians who entertained the early-arriving crowd from 6:30 to 9:00 over in the bar area. And major thanks and props to Robin who worked so hard on this event and treated us like the Rock Stars that we sometimes think we are. Plans are already underway for next year's event. But, between now and then, don't forget about the Fifth annual Shakin' the Shack to take place in this same room on April 16th. See you there.

PS: This show also marks the debut of what promises to be a fun new feature: The Video Diary. Shane has taken the lead on this, but you can be sure that everybody will be contributing as we go forward. The plan right now is to always feature the most recent Video Diary "Episode" on our home page and to archive them within the journal entries that they apply to. Enjoy.     --Josh
