A Word from Josh:
Oh my, this was different. We drove a long way to play this private show held in a hotel ballroom and, unlike other trips, we all rode in one vehicle. Wow, cooped up for 12 hours each way with our bandmates was a unique test of our comradery. I mean... how much Cherry Pie can anyone be expected to tolerate? It actually went pretty well and, when all was said and done, we remained friends. But seriously folks, the show was to take place on Saturday night, but we drove down on Friday arriving quite late in the evening. The staff and crew at the venue were totally cool with us setting up our equipment late into the night. We ended up sound-checking at 1 am and then going to bed. We had time to kill the next day. When I had a power cable go bad in my keyboard rig I took the opportunity to check out Junction City by walking to the Radio Shack downtown. This was my first ever visit to the state of Kansas and I enjoyed soaking in the character of this town of about 16,000 people located near a large military base. Quite appropriately, one of the highlights of my journey was a stroll through Heritage Park which features poignant memorials to fallen soldiers, police officers and fire-fighters. Anyway, back to the show. This was an event for the Aflac Insurance company that was part corporate meeting and part 80s Party. All of the 200-plus attendees were in elaborate 80s costumes that threatened to make us look like a grunge band. Sure, it's always weird when we play far from home with no familiar faces in the crowd, but these folks rose to the occasion when we took the stage and reminded us that 80s rock kicks ass no matter where you are. We made some new friends and benefited from their hospitality before, during and long after the show. Early the next morning we dragged ourselves back to the van and began the long trip back home.     --Josh

Would you like to comment on it?

Melisa:
"The pics look like something out of a hair metal musical! It looks like you had a blast!"
