A Word from Josh:
Rooters has been the site of many "benchmark" shows for Cherry Pie. This was certainly another one of those nights, distinguished by a major evolution of our setlist. We introduced four debut songs including a couple by artists we'd never covered before... Damn Yankees and Cheap Trick. Those songs, combined with other recent additions such as "Piece of Me" and "Goodbye" as well as the return of some old favorites by Billy Idol and Tesla, really seemed give this show that certain fresh feeling. It's always fun to add songs to our repertoire but there is definitely a downside. Namely, it's hard to decide what "old songs" should be left out of any given show. Indeed, many of our traditional favorites were left un-played. But don't worry, we fully intend to continue rotating most of them in at future shows. Yes, we believe that change is good. It gives people more reasons to come see us again. Another reason for repeat business is the drinking. That was the idea behind adding "Bottom's Up" to "Nothin' but a Good Time" and "Have a Drink on Me" for a three-song combination that has become quite a tribute to alcohol. Among those imbibing in the crowd were several people celebrating birthdays including our good friends Michelle and Julie. It was all part of a very festive atmosphere on a fun night. As they say, the more things change the more they stay the same.     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Julie:
"Thanks to Johnny & Josh for the birthday wishes! Looking forward to seeing you guys more in the future, thanks to my new-found freedom."

I Love Pie:
"Cherry Pie rocked, Rooters is the best place to see the Pie. Loved the new stuff."

Val:
"My first road trip from Illinois, to see Cherry Pie for the first time, and you guys were awesome. I definitely will make another road trip to see Cherry Pie again. Thanks to Johnny and Josh for making us welcome."

Mel & Mandy:
"Great set list!"

Bittersweeteus:
"When we arrived, the Cp guys were practicing some new songs which sounded pretty good. As it has always happened in the past, Rooter's was filling up with people who were preparing themselves for a night of hard, head-bangin 80's rock music. The guys arrived on stage with such fury, it was if they wanted to rip the roof and let everyone hear them. Their performance was strong and intense, that the fans just couldn't keep themselves under control. John, with his take-charge attitude and physic that just won't quit, brought the house down!! The night was non-stop hell raising. But then, when CherryPie performs at Rooter's, what else can you call it."
