A Word from Josh:
This was the second of three shows for us at this year's State Fair and I think the best word to describe the evening was "goofy". I think it turned out that way because we came in dealing with a very hot Monday afternoon and we were guarding against tonight being anti-climactic compared to Friday's spectacular show. Personally I know that I had trouble keeping my energy level up (in addition to my hair), and that's where the goofy factor proved valuable. John, who earlier in the day had a hard time getting from his car to the stage, seemed to have a case of the giggles all night. Different things just kept making him laugh, often right in the middle of songs. One of the funniest incidents came right at the beginning of the show when one of the first adults on the dance floor was a woman whose violent dance moves caused her right breast to pop right out of her summer dress. It took a while for her to even notice which made the moment that much more absurd. So, from there we monkeyed our way through the night, entertaining a healthy and growing Monday night crowd which grew louder with each passing song. Now, was it just me or did Rico's drum solo seem particularly long tonight? During it I managed to leave the pavilion, listen to two other bands playing nearby and buy some pizza. I checked back at our stage and Rico was still going at it, so I balanced my checkbook and adopted a child from Bangladesh. OK, like I said, I was feeling goofy. But I'm not sure if that is enough to explain what I did during "Round and Round". During Dave's long guitar solo at the end of the song Shane came over to my side of the stage and was standing on the extended drum riser. That's when I inexplicably made my move. I ducked down behind him and lifted him up on my shoulders. I was stunned by the vocal response from the crowd as everybody with a camera was snapping pictures of what must have been an amusing sight. But I assure you I won't be doing that again anytime soon. I don't know why but, for some reason, I thought Shane would not weigh so much. 'Must be that damn fifth string on his bass guitar. Anyway, we'll be back at it tomorrow night, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel. I'm hoping that the word for tomorrow's show will be "expugn."     --Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Poisonchick2000:
"Well, I caught your shows on both Friday and Monday night and both rocked! I'm sure it's a lot harder to play to a smaller crowd like there was on Monday compared to Friday but you guys sounded great and you're always a good time. And I have to say, that was one of the best journal entries I've read in a long time. I actually laughed out loud a few times. :) See ya soon, Stef"

Lazer Girl:
"Thanks for a great show guys! There was DEFINITELY something weird in the air last night. What was up with that guy in the hawaiian shirt hitting on the 12 year old girl? Josh & Shane's little "circus act" was hilarious - I can't imagine what went thru Shane's mind as he realized Josh's head was between his legs. See ya again soon! Julie"
