A Word from Josh:
Again, I've been reminded of the unique platform I have writing this journal and that some people actually do read it. This time is was Linda, with her entourage up from Chicago, who responded to something I wrote about our Dry Bean show a couple of weeks ago by bringing me a gift bag full of dozens of Cadbury Eggs. Now, I just need to drop a hint about needing a new car. Anyway, this was a really cool show. We had never played the Richfield Chalet before and we were very impressed by the room, nice and big with a great stage and a very cool staff. Tonight's show was a double bill featuring a big opening set from Dynasty, an exciting KISS Tribute that was quite an act to follow. We had worried that having two such "big production" bands sharing the same stage would be a logistical nightmare, but the stage, the room, the crew and the band members all helped make the show come together very smoothly. The biggest technical problems I had to deal with were the usual stuff: a dead battery, a broken guitar string and a broken finger nail. And, oh yeah, at the beginning of the first song I came too far forward on the stage and got pelted smack in the forehead by the opening confetti blast. It was quite an impact but I've grown accustomed to enduring blows to the head. It was nothing compared to the time in 1989 when I stood up on a table while playing a gig in Portage and accidentally ran my head into a speeding ceiling fan (ouch). With many of the Dynasty faithful in attendance I'd say that the crowd was a little more "rockus" that usual which made for a really fun time. I'm not sure, but I think our two and a half hour set was the longest set without a break Cherry Pie has ever played. We didn't get tired and the crowd certainly didn't either. Late in the show things got really wild as people came up on stage in droves (including members of Dynasty) to sing along or just dance dirty. And every time one of us would approach the front of the stage we were running the risk of having our pants pulled off by rowdy crowd members. Somebody even tried to take a big bite out of my leg. It was all a great experience. Dynasty was great to work with and we hope to come back to the Richfield Chalet next Fall.     - Josh

VOICES FROM THE CROWD:
Were you at this show?
Would you like to comment on it?

Linda:
"Thanks for helping make my birthday celebration THE BEST. As usual you totally ROCKED. Enjoy the Cadbury eggs Josh! You owe me a bumper sticker!"

Erica:
"I had an unbelievable time at the show. We've seen Cherry Pie once before, and actually came to see Dynasty because we're KISS freaks, but this band has so much energy and stage presence they're addicting. I think I'm hooked!"

Michelle:
"The show at the Richfield Chalet really rocked!! It was a total blast. You guys sounded awesome! Too bad I didn't try and bite Josh's leg! That would have been yummy!! You guys rock! :-)"
