Birthday
A Word from John:
Milwaukee has been a hotbed of successs for Cherry Pie as of late. The last few shows we have done in Brewtown have been jam packed and full of energetic people looking to let their hair down (big hair preferably) so we were hoping that the momentum that we have gained would continue. The night started out with our friends Whiskey Richard opening up the show and those fans who got there early were treated to a good mix of classic rock and modern-day hits. These guys are a good band and good guys. Their drummer may be gay, but he's still OK in my book. By the time we took the stage Rooters had become a mass of hair and humanity so it was easy for us to put on a good show. We were grateful to the club's manager Bill for giving us permission to use all the confetti and pyro we could muster. I'm just glad that I don't have to clean up that mess! We also were celebrating a birthday for a special fan. Stephanie Roix has been a big supporter of the band for a long time. We helped throw quite a party for her along with many of her friends including Julie, Stacy, Sheila, Tom, Maribeth and Erika. Being the degenerates that we are, of course we had to give her a good spankin'. That's what we did on stage in front of the whole world. I got to bend this hot chick over my knee and spank her butt (the bar even loaned me their special spankin' paddle). Man, I love my job! We also celebrated the birthday of another babe named Paula who was brought on stage by her friends Marlena, Linda and Becky. Looking around the room we spotted members of many of Milwaukee's top bands including the Sweet Tarts, the Boogiemen and the Love Monkeys. Our old friend Steve MacDonald of the Barbeez sat in with us on drums for a song. After the second set Josh used an unusual way to get the crowd fired up for an encore. He led them in a sing-a-long of "Jingle Bells" while playing it on his flute. Of course we came through with an encore, anything for the coolest fans around. After the show Bill told me that this was probably the best Friday crowd that Rooters has had for almost four years. So, a big thank you goes out to all who attended. You really are excellent fans and we appreciate all the love. Merry Christmas Milwaukee and we'll see you in 2002!    - Johnny S

PS: Hey Steph, I hope your butt is OK!
