A Word from Josh:
The Dry Bean Saloon is a very successful restaurant and bar that has hosted top name regional country bands for years. Now they say that they are trying to shed their "country" image. Well, if that's their goal then hiring Cherry Pie was a stroke of genius. We followed in the footsteps of big name area bands like The Love Monkeys and Road Trip who are other non-country bands who have played here on occasion. Although those bands managed to draw big crowds at the Dry Bean we were warned that playing on a Friday at the beginning of Summer might not make for a well-attended show. Well, things turned out pretty well as our first song was greeted by a large throng of folks eager to rock. We seemed to bring in quite of few of our Badger Bowl crowd who helped us make a good impression on some of the regular Dry Bean crowd who were Cherry Pie first-timers. The Dry Bean is a really nice room with classy woodwork and decor. The corner stage is a reasonable size and pretty high above the dance floor for excellent viewing from around the building. We were able to use two video screens placed off to either side of the stage. John has fully recovered from his serious throat problems of two weeks ago and was in very good voice. Instead, it was Shane's turn to struggle with a bad cold which made singing difficult for him. Of course, he came through with typical Cherry Pie grit, determination and style - smiling throughout the show concealing his discomfort. The worst thing about him visible from the audience was a pretty bad case of "hat hair" after one of the lovely young ladies in the front row swiped the cowboy hat off of his head. Overall we had a great night. We're already scheduled to return to the Dry Bean in August and we look forward to it.      - Josh
