A Word from Josh:
Here's to everyday heroes. You know, a lot of people work for Cherry Pie in one way or another. Some are paid and some are not. Some get their names mentioned on our website, others don't. Some have very specific jobs, while others help out in whatever ways they can at the moment. Although we didn't have our full crew at this show because of the small stage, I was still reminded that among all the effort that goes into every Cherry Pie show, there are no "little" things. Everything is important and everyone involved is capable of key contributions that are vital to the production. Geoff Reinke is the leader of the lighting crew and before the show he went above and beyond the call of duty to fix a vital piece of my keyboard equipment that had broken. Meanwhile, our regular hair stylist Jasmyn couldn't make it to this show, which might sound like a tragedy waiting to happen to a band like us. But have no fear as Heather Peaslee made use of her hair-teasing skills to save the day. Heather's husband Don was the original bass player for Cherry Pie back in 1999 and currently plays for BoomChild, a hot modern rock cover band that opened up tonight's show with a great set that was very well received. Other band heroes include several amateur photographers who have contributed hundreds of pictures to our website. Three of the most valuable photographers over the band's history Erika Kaegler, Sheila Tate and Julie Keller were in attendance tonight.

As for tonight's show, we were glad to have a packed house (about 300 people in a room with a capacity of 230) of people ready to party. A beefed up security staff ensured that things didn't get out of hand like they did our last trip here. Everything worked out great. John was in top form which more than off-set the limited production on the small stage. A particularly zany moment came during the encore when a cute young lady came up on stage on crutches and danced on one foot. During the guitar solo John took one of the crutches and played air-guitar on it in flamboyant style. He's always entertaining. At one point, I was beginning to wonder if we were going to make it off of the stage alive. A lot of people wanted to hear us play some Guns'n'Roses, and as John explained that we didn't know any the crowd just got more determined and chanted loudly "G'N'R... G'N'R...!". In an attempt to appease the unruly mob, John promised that we'd learn some Guns'n'Roses for next time. That's the type of promise we seldom make. Well, I've got to rest up to do it all over again tomorrow night in Monroe. Rock on!    - Josh
