Well this was one blast from the past! Who remembers the old Dry Bean Saloon in Fitchburg?! Who remembers the endless nights of questionable sobriety, music and fun?! The place has had a bit of a facelift on the inside and is now known as The Vine/Madpower Training & Hot Fitness Center. Hot yoga and massages by day, music venue by night. What a cool idea!
Now the start of the night wouldn't be complete without some good 'ol Wisconsin weather. There was a wet snowy mixture that piddled thru the air all day long which made for a long and slow drive to Fitchburg for the majority of us. No one called to say they were in the ditch and we all arrived mostly on time. Good start!
So what's different about The Vine you ask?! During the remodel of the place, the stage was moved from the corner to a much more practical location on the south wall of the building, facing where the old bathrooms and green room used to be. The bar area is pretty much the same, railing and all, with the ADA compliant addition of a wheelchair ramp. Now let's be honest… Who remembers trying to impress the ladies by doing a flip over that railing?! Who did this after a few too many libations and felt the effects the next morning or just made a complete fool of themselves?! Ha! Well it's still there. We are a bit disappointed none of you in attendance did a flip over the 'ol railing for old times sake.
The only other major difference other than some walls being added/removed and the bathrooms being moved, was the dance floor flooring was torn out. We were told the old flooring went to Ryan's house. Ya'll remember 6'7" security guard Ryan?! He was one of many security guards at the Dry Bean Saloon for YEARS and guess what, he is still there manning the door and keeping people in line for the current owner, Amy Sanborn. Another blast from the past!
On to the show…
It was awesome. It was fun. And it was cozy with all of our favorite Madison area people that showed up for the gig. Three straight hours of rock is always a good time! We hope you enjoyed the blast from the past show. We know we did! ROCK ON!
